I am not one to take a lot of medicines. Actually, I despise taking medicine and whenever I go to the doctor because I'm sick, I never finish the prescription they give me (horrible, I know!).
I have suffered from migraines for years now and have been prescribed everything from Topamax to Imitrex, but again, I don't like taking medicine, and I didn't like the side effects of the different medicines.
Out of my hatred for medicine, I recently came up with my own remedy for my migraines - lavender.
My aunt bought me this migraine pillow that you heat in the microwave and is lavender scented. The heat from the pillow mixed with the scent of lavender really helps when my head is throbbing!
My aunt also bought me this lavender scented candle that smells SO good! I've been burning it in my bedroom even when I don't have a migraine and the scent literally lingers in my room for days!
I also have this Dream pillow mist from Pure Romance to spray on your pillow that is lavender scented. However, it also includes pheromones, so it'll also help you get in the mood, lol!
Do you suffer from migraines? What other home remedies have you tried that work for you?
Let me know if you try using lavender, I'd like to know if it works for others as well!

Lavender is a great idea!! We don't get these often but on occasion they can be brutal! Glad you are finding something that helps!

ReplyDeleteWow I would've never thought to try this for a headache! Thanks so much for sharing! Will def remember this the next time I'm suffering!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea! Great info to know.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that lavender is great for migranes and headaches before. Too bad, I'm allergic. For me the most important thing is to lay down in dark and quiet. Or I will really be in problems.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard this before - I'll have to keep this in mind. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to know this! I also suffer from migraines and I do take medicine for them but I don't like the side effects. I will definitely try lavender the next time.
ReplyDeleteI love holistic and herbal remedies whenever possible...usually just being in the dark is good for my headaches, but not always. I will have to try the lavender.
ReplyDeleteI have known about this and I was so pleased to hear that my aunt's nurse brought her in some lavender after she had her knee surgery and had to wait for the pain medication that she was horribly allergic to, to be completely out of her system before being able to take anything else. I never would have thought a nurse in a hospital would do such a thing, they are usually very into the medications and such.
ReplyDeleteWow, didn't know this. Passing this on to my sister! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE lavendar. I don't suffer from headaches, but it does help me feel relaxed after a long, hard day. I am going to share this with a friend that really struggles with migraines!
ReplyDeleteMigraine pillow? I love it! I think I want one just for the heck of it so I can use it to relax. My kids will probably steal it so I'll have to buy two!
ReplyDeleteI use Lavender for my headaches - amazing how it works. I also use Lavender to calm me ... great in the bath
ReplyDeleteDo you believe that I actually am not a fan of lavender? I prefer citrus scents myself!
ReplyDeleteI used to have debilitating migraines, went to specialists, had MRI's, was put on drug after drug to try to treat them to no avail. It wasn't until I started eating healthy, eliminating processed food and getting regular exercise that they went away. Happy to report that I haven't had one if a few years now.
ReplyDeleteI to suffer from migraines and hate taking anything for many reasons, the most important one is I am still nursing. But sadly I am not a fan of lavender I find it makes my head throb a little more. I have been looking into reflexology:)
ReplyDeleteI have heard of using peppermint for migraines before, but I haven't heard of lavender. These is so much about lavender these days I really should look into it.
ReplyDeleteI am like you, I hate using medicines, but I get horrible sinus headaches very frequently. I know that heat has helped and I have been told to try cucumbers on my eyes to help, as well. I will have to try lavender next time
ReplyDeleteI experience migraines….and I know that lavender can help, but I am allergic to it. UGGGGGGHHHH! What helps me ALOT is magnesium. I take it internally, and I also take magnesium baths. If I don’t have time for a full bath, I soak my feet in it. I’m ordering some magnesium gel this weekend that is used just like lotion. Magnesium has decreased the intensity and frequency of my migraines incredibly. I can’t live without it.
ReplyDeleteI knew lavender was great for relaxing but i did not know it was good for headaches. I will have to try this since I have been getting a lot of headaches lately.
