Washington DC National Zoo

To kick off Spring Break with our kiddos last Saturday, we loaded them up for a "surprise" road trip and hit the road! They had no idea where we were going. It was so fun to surprise them! The DC zoo is about three hours from us, so not too far away for a day trip! :)

The kids were SO excited to see we were going to the zoo!! They were all SO good the whole day too! Despite allllll of the walking we had to do, lol!

We found this quiet little area with these monkey statues and "monkeyed around" a little bit while we had a picnic lunch! :)

These orangutans went across our heads on these ropes! This was the kids' favorite part!

We also had some fun trying to walk like a Gibbon!

We got to get pretty close to a sea lion too!

Aleah enjoyed reading the map and trying to figure out what animal we were going to see next!

She still showed her little attitude though!

The kids had a great day and were very happy that day joined us on this adventure!

  2. That looks like a wonderful family outing. My family hasn't been to the zoo in quite a while now that the kids have gotten older. You're never to old for a trip to the zzoo, though.

  4. We have a pretty small zoo where we live, but we are members and go at least every other week. I wonder if DC National zoo is one of the ones we get free/discounted entry at. . .
